The Great British Bake Off final has aired and with it ensured absolute chaos! The heat has clearly got to us all - there have been glass jars exploding, meltdowns at the fire pit, fiery Twitter debates filling our news feeds, and now the nation is looking for the answer to the question we all need to know; what will we do with our Tuesday nights now Bake Off has finished?! At Cake Angels, we want to congratulate our three finalists Kim-Joy, Ruby and Rahul for absolutely smashing it over and over again throughout the show; you guys have been a pleasure to watch. So, onto the results... If you haven't seen it yet, SPOILER ALERT! Scroll down now to hear about last nights' drama, plus we reveal GBBO's 2018 winner! YASSSSS RAHUL! We have to admit that we would have equally loved to see Kim-Joy OR Ruby win because all three of them have been fabulous, but Rahul has been a great watch! If there's anything we, or our Angels, can learn from this guy is that perseverance and a little self-belief goes a really long way. Name a cuter contestant on the show... I'll wait. Rahul, our three-time BAE of the week and his self-proclaimed 'depressing' personality has made us laugh from the very beginning, and we've become pretty emotionally invested over the past few weeks. Whether it's his apologetic bakes or clumsy baking disasters, we couldn't get enough of him, especially on Twitter. This is what you lot have had to say about our 2018 winner (from national treasure to teacher's pet - ouch)! ![]() This is EXACTLY how we pictured Rahul's success too... ...and over to the haters! One of our favorite moments from the show had to be Ruby's pie in the face from the other two, as she reassured she loved them before the big reveal. Rahul is just another level of rejection. If Rahul did Halloween... Overall, it was a brilliant series with some of the best BAE-kers we've seen on the show. Whether you're a Rahul fan or not, the suspense and surprises have been a fabulous watch (and at least Prue didn't give the winner away this time)! Already feeling the post-GBBO blues? The semi-final special, when four became just three! Week nine of the nation's favorite baking competition saw Briony leave the tent after making a rookie mistake that would could have seen her go in the first couple of weeks. Hint to all bakers: label your salt and sugar, there's no coming back when you mix these two up! So salty patisseries weren't to the judges taste-buds, but it's fair to say everyone was sad to see the group downsize, leaving Rahul, Ruby and Kim-Joy in line for the baking throne. BAE of the WeekRUBY RUBY RUBY RUBYYYY (ahhh-ahhhhh-ahhhh-ahhhhh-ahh-ahhhhhh) Our BAE of the week is star baker, and 29-year-old project manager from London, Ruby Bhogal. We think Ruby has channelled the true Cake Angels vibe over the weeks and is absolutely smashing the competition now when it matters most! From her sassy way with Paul and cute friendship with Noel to her always-on, bold lipstick and love for boozy bakes, we couldn't find a girl we'd want to be baking in the kitchen with more. This week Ruby baked her way to the top, making a fabulous come-back after the first break in last nights show, creating an array of Parisian patisseries for the showstopper round. Noel's AngelsIt seems that one of last night's biggest talking points was our main man Noel Fielding, as the Twitter-sphere confessed their love for both his whacky shirt and caring nature towards the beaten down contestants! We're big fans of the presenter so we're calling ourselves Noel's Angels to show our appreciation. We all need a guy like Noel in our lives. We'd be comforting our lovely Kim-Joy too, she's just too sweet! ... and when the baking gets tough, eat your feelings away (we are 100% certain Kim-Joy's feelings taste absolutely incredible). We could feel the pressure through our TV screens last night, we're fully invested now! Noel trying to cheer Rahul up each week is actually giving us life. The two-time star baker has fully become the infamous gloomy character, Eeyore, but can Noel keep his spirits high for the final? |
