Bake Off was back last night with Bread Week and we saw Terry rise to the challenge, Paul Hollywood go soft, Antony become toast, and rejoiced as our fave BAE-ker Rahul was on an absolute roll. What a loaf of buns, PUNS… we mean puns, and it turns out Twitter was loving the particularly pun-centric theme too. BUT FIRST, are you bready to find out which contestant earned their Cake Angels wings? BAE of the Week As much as Rahul is still giving us major cuteness feels, we’ve cherry-picked (or beret-picked if you like) the baker that sprinkled some sass on Bread Week, with style. We’re all about putting your own unique twist on your creations and totally owning, it so we’ve crowned Karen Wright our BAE of the Week. The 60-year-old baker from West Yorkshire demonstrated true Cake Angel vibes as she dared to bake insanely bright Chelsea Buns, while donning a bright red beret, with no regrets (YOU DO YOU BOO!) and we know she’d love your reactions… Our BAE has defo taken the style spotlight from Noel this week – this is the colour POP on Bake Off we knead (just HAD to WORK that one in there). The comment that shook the nation Now, the love we have for Rahul is not to be taken lightly after last night’s show. He really is the gift that keeps on giving as he impressed the judges so much so with his Signature Bake that he was Star Baker for the second week in a row. But we’re more obsessed with the way the self-effacing yet emerging and potential Bake Off Champion felt the need to apologise before, during and after the judges had tasted his Chelsea buns *cries a little*. We’re falling more in love with Rahul each week and it was his claim that he bakes to make new friends that went viral (the word cute doesn’t even cut it). This was literally all of us. And just when we composed ourselves... Nope, we can’t deal. No more “oh crumbs” for Terry… We were DELIGHTED that Terry was able to deliver this week on Bake Off, just as our hipster BAE claimed hopefully that this would be his week. After coming close to elimination in the past couple of weeks, Britain went crazy for Terry as Paul revealed his tangy citrus Chelsea buns look just like the ones he makes, before winning the garlic naan technical. That’s our guy! Why is Greggs trending? Oh for the loaf of bread, why are we so British… To be fair, Greggs IS a national treasure (yep, we’re now drooling over them steak bakes). And we wouldn’t be British without picking up on “tight buns” and THAT innuendo… Another week, another treat So, we said goodbye to self-acclaimed “Bollywood Baker” Antony this week and admittedly it’s getting harder each time (maybe it’s us that’s going soft!) We’re invested now. Buzzing to put our elasticated trousers on next Tuesday as Dessert Week returns, so we’ll meet you back here on Wednesday for a round up of the best reactions! Don’t forget to tag @Cake_Angels and hashtag #GBBO and #CakeAngels so we can find your tweets. Also check out our GBBO inspired recipes to get your bake on!
